Lonely Road

Old Road

It was a lonely road on a lonely morning with a mist hanging in the air.  Been up that road hundreds of times.  Always the same, until now.  Today it was different.  Today it was the same old road, but somehow it had changed.  Something that was there before, seen hundreds of times, was more evident, more natural, more a piece of the scenery, but also more visible.  Today it just made sense.  Today it was the last straw to seeing it as it was always.  A tree.  It was always there.  But today it seemed, more natural to be there.  Like it was always there, but seeing the tree for the first time.  Really seeing it.

Really knowing the tree there.  Knowing it was there all the time, but also knowing that I just noticed it. All at the same time.  It had provided shade in the past.  Protection against the wind.  Beauty in the fall and a place for birds.  But now it was really there.  It was always there, but I just could not see it.  I was not ready to see it.  I just saw the road.  I saw the rocks.  I saw the path, but not the scenery.  It is much more clear now.  What was there all the time I could not see, but not I see.  I once was blind, but now I can see.  It is amazing that I can see it now.  I thank the Lord that I can see what I had missed all that time.

Have you ever been down that road.  The path you have seen a million times.  So familiar and yet there is something there you are missing.  Something that is right there in front of your eyes and you just need time to actually see it.  Everyone has those moments in life.  A person, they could not see until the right moment came along.  A word, a sentence, spoken or read that made a difference on the 1001th time of reading it or hearing it.  We all have them.  You can not quite see it until the right moment.  It is like suddenly knowing a song you have heard most of your life and now able to sing it or play it perfectly.

Life is like a series of songs that come together to make the harmony and the melody of our lives.  An orchestration of symphonies and arias and opuses and songs and fiddle tunes, country, christian, rock, soul, r&b.  It all goes together to make life.  Some music is sorrowful, others lighthearted, others have a great beat. It all blends together in such a way that the music makes life wonderful.  No matter what the tune is that is being played right now, for today, for this moment.  Listen to it and you will find that your life is full of meaning and full of sounds and full of more things than you can realize at this moment.  All things become clear at the right time and at the right place.

My only suggestion is to be ready for it when those moments come.  And listen to the music of your life.  It is beautiful and you don't want to miss a moment of the music.
